Some cars have a feature that starts and stops the engine when the vehicle stops, such as hybrid or electric vehicles. This can happen at a red light or during rush hour traffic, for example. In those instances, Automile registers that the engine is temporarily turned off. This will display as several short trips, instead of one continuous route. Because of this, Automile has a feature that merges trips based on the length of a stop.
If you frequently make several short start/stops, and want these to be shown as one trip, it is possible to reduce the sensitivity by way of adjusting the minutes. This will essentially recognize several stops as one trip, instead of individual trips, and will not recognize anythings shorter as its own trip (unless you modify the settings again). To change the minutes/time span of a "stop":
- Go to Vehicles from the navigation bar, to the left.
- Go to "Edit" on the vehicle you would like to merge trips.
- Toggle "Yes" for to merge trips automatically and add the minutes you would like to be recognized for a new trip.
