If you want to be notified whether your Automile device has been disconnected, there are two ways to manage this:
- Device disconnected notification
- Device heartbeat disconnected notification
What's the difference?
1. A 'Device Disconnected' notification will trigger instantly when the device is reconnected, if you have your Notifications set up. You will also be able to see how long the device was disconnected for, from the Disconnected Events report. If the device is unplugged for several days, you would only be notified once the Box was reconnected. If you want to know sooner than that, our second option might be better for you.
2. The Disconnected Heartbeat Notification works like this: the device is programmed to communicate its status once every 24 hours, even if the car is parked. This way you still can see updates on your vehicle in the Live Map. If the device hasn't communicated to us in 24 hours, we assume the reason is because the device was unplugged. (Service can also be a factor - read more about the Map here.)
The Device Heartbeat notification will alert you after 24 hours has passed and the device has not communicated.
